The 50-year-old singer – whose bid to give a home to four-year-old Mercy James was rejected in March – has reportedly persuaded three Supreme Court of Appeal judges to approve the adoption.
Two judges have already submitted reports recommending Madonna be granted custody of Mercy, and the third is said to be "in complete unison with them".
The ruling is set to be announced in court in the African nation's capital Lilongwe on Sunday (14.06.09).
A Court of Appeal source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: "The paperwork is being typed up now. All recommendations are in favour of the adoption taking place. Mercy should start packing her bags. She's off to America."
Madonna – who was photographed sobbing in public days after her initial adoption bid was denied - is thrilled with the decision.
A friend of the pop star said: "She's ecstatic. She made a promise that she wouldn't give up on Mercy and, believe me, she could move mountains when she's this determined. No stone has been left unturned to prove that ruling was wrong."
The star's adoption application was initially rejected because she had not lived in Malawi for a minimum of 18 months, as the country's adoption laws require.
The rule was swept aside when Madonna adopted David Banda, three, from the country in 2008 and she had been expecting a similar ruling regarding Mercy.
The 'Miles Away’ singer also has an eight-year-old son, Rocco, with ex-husband Guy Ritchie and daughter Lourdes, 12, from a previous relationship.
At the weekend, it was reported Madonna – who is dating 22-year-old model Jesus Luz - was considering adopting a child from Lesotho if her appeal was unsuccessful.

Courtney Love trashes hotel with Pink
The former Hole singer – who is preparing to launch her own clothes line – reportedly fled from Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont hotel after staining her luxurious suite with fabric dye.
A source told Life and Style magazine: 'At the last minute, she decided she had to dye a load of fabric for her new fashion line before flying to London for the Elle Style Awards. She splashed pink dye everywhere – all over the kitchen and the floors! Once she realised what a mess she’d made, she called hotel staff to clean up after her. They took one look at it and returned with two huge bottles of bleach.'
The 44-year-old star had been staying at the hotel for over a month when the incident occurred in January this year.
Hellraiser Courtney apparently ran from the hotel while the cleaning staff attempted to clean up.
Courtney’s spokesperson is yet to comment on the incident.
The hotel is not the only company Courtney reportedly owes money to.
The ex-Hole singer – who was married to the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain – has had a lawsuit filed against her by American Express because she is accused of racking up over $350,000 on a credit card.
Liam Gallagher loves 'male grooming'
The Oasis singer - who, along with his bandmate and brother Noel Gallagher, is famed for his wild lifestyle -has come up with his own skincare regime to ensure he retains his youthful looks for as long as possible.
He said: "I don't have manicures or anything. But I'm into male grooming. Why not? I splash a bit of water on my d**k every morning if that's what you mean."

Talking about her time with Paris, Elizabeth claims in new book 'Six Degrees of Paris Hilton’: 'We partied pretty hard. Some men would pay for girl-on-girl action. I’d be there. And they’d pay to watch.
'One night Paris joined in and got naked, and the girls would get naked.'
Elizabeth says she would be paid around $5,000 for a private show but claims she never saw Paris take any money.

The 'Mysterious Girl’ singer, who has lost over 14lbs since splitting from estranged wife Katie Price, has vowed to look after himself by embarking on a new health and exercise regime.
Peter – who has two children, Junior, three, and 23-month-old Princess Tiaamii with the former glamour model, and is also stepfather to her seven-year-old son Harvey – said: 'I am obviously still reeling from everything that’s happening in my personal life, but I have to focus and stay really strong for the children because if I crumble then I’m no use to them.
'My appetite is pretty small at the moment and I still weigh 14lbs less than I did a month ago. But I’m trying my very best to eat well and to exercise regularly, so I have plenty of energy when I see them.'
Peter – who has denied reports he is to get a 'quickie’ divorce from Katie – has just bought a new house and is making sure it’s child-friendly.
He told Britain’s New! magazine: 'I spent most of last week shopping for stuff, and I’m really looking forward to moving in this week. It will be great to have my very own place again, and I’m trying to get the kids’ bedrooms sorted for when they come to stay. I had to buy boring stuff like towels and duvets.'
